Nashville, Tenn., November 02, 2012 - Asurion, the global leader in technology protection services, is donating $26,000 today to Nashville’s Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP), a charter school in East Nashville. The school is part of a national network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory schools dedicated to preparing students in underserved communities for success in college and in life.

This is Asurion’s second year to sponsor the KIPP’s All of Us Will Read program. The funds were raised through Asurion’s internal community engagement organization, Compassion Forward and will help students develop reading comprehension skills at or above their grade level.

“We are very thankful for Asurion’s donations and their continued commitment to the education of our students,” said Laura Howarth, KIPP Nashville’s principal. “In 2011, our All of Us Will Read program increased the number of students reading on or above their grade level by more than 100 percent, something Asurion’s gift directly influenced.”

The donation will be presented at KIPP Academy Nashville November 2 with a check presentation by Tony Detter, Asurion’s senior vice president, global product management.

“Asurion and its employees want to make a difference in our community by supporting Nashville’s future” said Detter. “We are excited to present this gift to an organization that is truly making a difference. KIPP’s role in shaping students’ successful futures is vital and we’re glad to be a part of it.”
