Company offers flexible work environment for members of the military and their families

Asurion, the global leader in technology protection services, this week received the Patriot Award, given by the Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). This award is given to honor employers “for contributing to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Force.” This includes accommodating the needs of active service men and women through flexible schedules, time off before and after deployment to spend time with family and granting leaves of absence if necessary.

Tracey Strassner, Senior Director Voice Channel for Asurion, was nominated by her employee, David Lenahan, Manager Channel Release, for her outstanding support of his work needs. Strassner enabled Lenahan to work remotely when his wife took a military assignment away from Asurion headquarters in Nashville. Strassner also supported Lenahan while he honored his commitment to the Air Force Reserves and a Wounded Warrior Benefit earlier this year.
“The flexibility we’ve given David is one of the great things about Asurion culture,” said Strassner. “Supporting our teammates is one of our core values and I’m honored at the opportunity to support David and his family in this way. He is an asset to our team and brings a valued perspective to the projects he’s involved in.”
In addition to creating an accommodating work environment, Asurion also provides additional services beyond legal requirements for those employees serving in the military. The company will provide gap pay and full benefits during the first year an employee is called to active duty or training. This allows family members to maintain financial security while their loved one is serving abroad.
