Asurion, the global leader in helping people unlock the potential of technology, has been named a 2019 DiversityInc Noteworthy Company in recognition of its rising national leadership in fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace culture.

The DiversityInc Top 50 list, issued yearly since 2001, recognizes the nation’s top companies for diversity and inclusion management. These companies excel in such areas as hiring, retaining and promoting women, minorities, people with disabilities, LGBTQ and veterans.

“We strive to create and maintain a diverse and inclusive environment where all our employees and their perspectives are valued, and where our employees have a sense of belonging. Our goal is for all employees to have a genuine opportunity to reach their full potential at Asurion,” said Nikki Smith-Bartley, Asurion Vice President and Special Counsel for Diversity and Inclusion. “We are honored to have DiversityInc recognize us as a rising leader in workplace diversity and inclusion.”

As a global tech care services company, Asurion values the uniqueness of its employees, recognizing their diverse backgrounds, perspectives and experiences. We not only embrace the diversity of ouremployees – we also actively engage their diverse experiences and perspectives to better understand the needs of our customers in an increasingly global marketplace, and to develop the technology, products and services necessary to meet our customers’ needs.

We strive to create and maintain a diverse and inclusive environment where all our employees and their perspectives are valued, and where our employees have a sense of belonging. Our goal is for all employees to have a genuine opportunity to reach their full potential at Asurion.”

– Nikki Smith-Bartley, Asurion Vice President and Special Counsel for Diversity and Inclusion

Asurion’s 10 Employee Resource Groups have more than 4500 members across 70 global chapters that help employees across the company to better understand and appreciate colleagues with different backgrounds and experiences.  In 2018 Asurion launched unconscious bias education for employees, and across the company more than 2,000 of our employees have attended these education sessions and our LGBTQ+ inclusion education sessions. We make continuous efforts to reduce bias and infuse principles of inclusion in our policies, processes and our culture. Advocacy from our ERGs has led to significant changes in our parental leave, equal employment opportunity, and performance management policies.

DiversityInc’s honors are just one of many national and local recognitions Asurion has received for its leadership in diversity and inclusion.  Earlier this year Asurion received a perfect score of 100 on the 2019 Corporate Equality Index, the nation’s premier benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation.  We also have been certified as A Great Place to Work® for the last two consecutive years, were named a Top Workplace in the Nashville area for the past four years in a row, were honored with the 2019 Corporate Diversity award by the Nashville LGBT Chamber of Commerce and were recognized by the Nashville Bar Association for our diversity efforts.

DiversityInc’s extensive annual survey yields an empirically driven ranking based on talent results in the workforce and management, senior leadership accountability, talent programs, workplace practices, philanthropy and supplier diversity. This year’s competition also connected talent programs and workplace practices to desired talent results. The Top 50 analysis also addressed the intersectionality of race by analyzing women and men representation of each race/ethnicity separately, rather than combined.

“We revamped our algorithms and now have a reliability quotient of .92,” notes Luke Visconti, founder and CEO of DiversityInc. “DiversityInc Top 50 Companies have a decisive advantage because they treat people more fairly than other companies. Everybody, including white men, are far better off working for them because there is more opportunity at better run companies. Top 50 companies also deliver a greater-than-average return for shareholders.”
