Back to School Tech Tips from 2 Wired 2 Tired

We recently partnered with 2 Wired 2 Tired to share some tech tips for parents sending their kids back to school this fall. See what they recommend in the excerpt below, and get the full post here.

It’s one of the scariest moments that can happen at anytime. When it does, it feels like the world is standing still and you experience pure helplessness. What am I referring to? The moment when you drop your iPhone or your tablet. Oh my gosh it’s terrible! This has happened to me countless times, and I am an adult (or at least my birth certificate says I am). With technology becoming so common in the classroom you can count on kids heading back to school with all sorts of costly gadgets that are at risk too. We are working with Asurion, the recognized global leader in technology protection services, and have learned from one of their surveys that students at a greater risk than adults when it comes to device loss or damage.

Did you know that three quarters of students are using phones, laptops and tablets to learn in the classroom to help them learn and connect? Well 20% of parents have replaced three or more phones for their children in the last 18 months! That’s approximately a cost of $1,500 at $500 per device. Even more concerning is that 1 out of 2 laptops or tablets won’t even last from freshman to junior year undamaged.

According to Asurion back to school equals high risks for high tech. Here is a scary and crazy statement from their data – “someone drops a tablet every 3 seconds.” That’s unbelievable.
In an effort to help parents protect their investments and technology this back to school season, Asurion has put together four “New Rules for School” to keep technology safe.
