As a recent college grad, I know there’s a lot to remember when packing up for the big move to college. Some stuff (like your laptop) is really important to remember, other stuff (like your perfect attendance certificate from middle school) not so much.
I learned a thing or two during my recent college days and if there’s one thing I can pass on to you, it’s to make sure you’ve got these essentials before pulling out of the driveway on move-in day:
I kept one in my bag at all times so I could recharge between classes throughout the day if I was running low on battery.
Whether it’s insurance or a warranty, make sure all your electronics are protected no matter what you get yourself into. And between crazy roommates, nights out on the town and your looming coffee addiction, there’s a lot that could go wrong and destroy your laptop, cell phone or tablet.
External Hard Drive
Make sure to back up all your notes, pictures and papers regularly on your external HD. You never know when you might accidentally spill that late night cup of coffee and fry your computer.
I never left home without them! They took up no space in my bag, and were great to drown out the sounds of a noisy roommate or chatty people “studying” in the library (for the record, flirting with your lab partner does not count as studying).
Your computer can really take a beating in your bag all day, so make sure to protect it with a sturdy case to ward off scratches, dents and damage.
