This Summer’s Best Music Apps

shutterstock_142768879-384x255Summer means just one thing: concert season. You know it’s in full swing by the number of music festivals gearing up across the country. From Bonnaroo (not too far from our HQ in Music City) to the urban version at Lollapalooza in Chicago and out west at Coachella and Austin City Limits, there are plenty of places to pack your weekend full of outstanding live music.

Not all of us can be roadies for the summer and follow our favorite bands cross country, but that doesn’t mean we have to miss out on all the fun. So here’s a list of four must have apps to keep you rocking out to your favorite tunes all summer long.

iHeartRadio

This free internet radio service lets you stream your favorite stations no matter where you are, making it perfect for summer road trips. You can even create custom stations free of commercials.

Shazam

Ever heard a song you loved on the radio, but not know what it’s called? It’s annoying, right? Well fret no more, this app not only recognizes the song, but streams the lyrics, music videos and even lets you purchase songs in iTunes.

 iConcertCal

This app takes all the leg work out of finding your favorite concerts. It looks at the artists and bands in your iTunes and shows you where they are playing near you. Once you book for favorites, you can then reference your summer lineup in list or calendar view.

MobileTicketApp

This app lets you easily buy tickets to your favorite concerts, sports games or theater events with just a few clicks. You can choose from price selections below face value all the way up to premium seats. They even make it easy to pick your seat by including a venue map.
