How to factory reset your Google Pixel phone

Before you begin
Resetting your phone will erase everything—photos, apps, and settings. Here’s what to do before starting:
- Charge your phone to at least 50%.
- Connect to Wi-Fi or mobile data.
- Back up important data to your Google™ account or computer.
To check your backup:
- Open Settings.
- Tap System > Backup.
- Make sure “Backup by Google One” is turned on.
How to factory reset a Google Pixel
- Open Settings.
- Tap System > Reset options.
- Select Erase all data (factory reset).
- Tap Erase all data, then confirm with your PIN or password.
- Tap Erase all data again to start the reset.
Your phone will restart and begin the reset process. Once it finishes, it’ll be like new—ready to set up again or pass along to someone else.
How to factory reset if your Pixel won’t turn on
If your phone is frozen or stuck, you can try a reset using buttons:
- Press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons until the bootloader screen appears.
- Use the Volume buttons to scroll to Recovery Mode, then press the Power button.
- When you see the Android robot, hold the Power button and press Volume Up once.
- Use the Volume buttons to scroll to Wipe data/factory reset, then press Power.
