How to appear offline on Xbox from your console
- Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
- Go to Profile & system.
- Select your profile picture at the top.
- Choose My profile.
- Scroll to Appear online and select it.
- Change your status to Appear offline.
You’ll now show as offline to everyone on your friends list—even while you’re online and playing.
How to appear offline on Xbox using the mobile app
- Open the Xbox app on your phone.
- Tap your profile icon in the bottom right.
- Tap the online status under your gamertag.
- Choose Appear offline from the list.
