A JBL® speaker (or two) lets you play music wherever you want to. Whether you’re hosting a party or cooking dinner, JBL speakers deliver high-quality sound that fills any space. But if this is your first time setting one up, you might be wondering how to connect JBL speakers.

Pair your JBL speaker with a phone
To start the pairing process, follow these steps:
- Press the Power button on your JBL speaker to turn it on.
- Press and release the Bluetooth button. The speaker enters pairing mode when you hear a sound or see a flashing light. (On some models, you may need to press and hold the button for a few seconds.)
- On your phone:- iPhone®: Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn it on.
- Android™: Swipe down from the top of the screen, then press and hold Bluetooth to open settings. Tap Pair new device.
 
- Select your JBL speaker from the list of available devices.
- Once connected, the light on the speaker will turn solid, and you may hear a confirmation sound.

Connect your JBL speaker to a computer
You can also connect your JBL speaker to a computer using Bluetooth. Here’s how.
- Put the speaker in pairing mode by pressing and releasing the Bluetooth button.
- On your computer:- Mac®: Click the Apple menu > System Settings > Bluetooth.
- Windows® PC: Click the Network, Sound, or Battery icon in the taskbar, then select the Bluetooth icon or open Bluetooth settings.
 
- Find your JBL speaker in the list of available or new devices and select Connect (or Accept if prompted).
- When paired successfully, the JBL light turns solid, and you may hear a confirmation sound.
- Test your connection by playing a video or audio file on your computer—YouTube™ works great for this.
Set up PartyBoost or Connect+ for multi-speaker playback
Want to amplify your sound? You can connect multiple JBL speakers using PartyBoost or Connect+, which are available through the JBL Portable app.
Both features connect two or more JBL speakers at once, but PartyBoost also offers stereo playback (left and right channels).

How to connect multiple JBL speakers
- Download the JBL Portable app on your phone from the Apple® App Store® or Google Play™ store.
- Power on your JBL speakers and pair them with your smartphone.
- Test the connection by playing music—you should hear sound from one speaker.
- Open the JBL Portable app and allow it to detect the connected JBL speaker.
- Press the Connect/PartyBoost button on both speakers.
- Wait for the app to detect both speakers. You should hear sound from all devices within 30 seconds.
- If using a PartyBoost-compatible speaker, tap Stereo for left/right audio or Party mode for identical playback across speakers.
Understand JBL speaker light indicators
JBL speakers use light indicators to show their current status. Here’s what the colors mean:
- Blinking blue: Speaker is in pairing mode.
- Solid blue: Speaker is connected to a Bluetooth device.
- Red: Speaker battery is low or charging.
- White: Multi-speaker mode (Connect+ or PartyBoost) is active.
Fix pairing problems with your JBL speaker
Most pairing problems are quick to fix. Restart your JBL speaker and your phone or computer to clear temporary glitches.
If the issue persists:
- Forget the JBL speaker on your device and try pairing again.
- Reset your speaker by pressing and holding Volume+ and Bluetooth for 5 seconds.
- Try a different device to confirm the issue isn’t with your phone or computer.
