Turn off Siri suggestions in search, Lock screen, and more

It only takes a few minutes to learn how to turn off Siri Suggestions. Start with these steps:

1. Open Settings > Siri & Search.
2. Locate Suggestions and turn off the suggestions you no longer want to see. If you don’t want any suggestions, start by toggling off Suggestions in Search. Now, you’ll no longer see Siri app suggestions when you do a Spotlight Search.
3. Turn off Suggestions in Look Up to stop seeing Siri Suggestions when you use your device’s Look Up function for things like word definitions.
4. Turn off Suggestions on Lock Screen to stop seeing suggestions on your Lock screen for content you might want to watch or apps you might want to engage with.

After making these changes, you’ll notice that the suggested apps or content simply no longer appear where they once did. With suggestions in search, for example, Siri recommends four apps you might want to use. Once you switch off these suggestions, you’ll just see the search bar with no suggested apps.

You can also adjust other Siri settings while you’re here. For example, if you’d like Siri to sound different, you can change Siri’s voice. Or, if you change your mind and want to re-enable Siri suggestions, turn the suggestions back on. If you use Siri shortcuts and want to adjust them, open the Shortcuts app instead of Settings.

Manage Siri suggestions for individual apps

Sometimes, you still want Siri Suggestions for some apps but not all of them. In that case, adjust your iPhone Siri suggestions for individual apps with these steps:

1. Open Settings > Siri & Search.
2. Go through the list of apps with Siri app integration. Tap on the app you want to disable Siri tips for and toggle off Learn from this App and Show Suggestions.
3. Repeat these steps for every app that you want to disable Siri Suggestions for. This settings screen is also where you can manage Siri preferences for privacy or notifications.

Remove Siri suggestions from widgets and Spotlight

If you see Siri iOS widget suggestions on your Home screen, don’t go into the settings app to remove them. Instead, do a long press on the widget to open a menu, then tap Remove. This will get rid of the widget entirely.

You can turn off Spotlight suggestions and do other Spotlight customization under the same Siri settings panel where you turn off Siri Suggestions. Don’t worry if you can’t find all the settings you’re looking for—it’s not always easy.

Do Siri suggestions still appear in widgets if turned off?

Even after you turn Siri Suggestions off, you may still notice them in widgets, especially Smart Stacks. That’s because the suggestions may be managed as a part of each stack individually, rather than your device as a whole.

To get rid of these suggestions, press and hold on the Smart Stack where Siri suggestions appear. Press Edit Stack, then turn off the suggestions. Once you do this, you will no longer see Siri Suggestions in that widget stack. However, you will need to repeat the process for any other Smart Stacks you have if you don’t want them to show Siri Suggestions, either.
