How to manage your YouTube TV account and settings

💡 Need to know
- All account changes happen in Settings. Billing, plans, add-ons, and family sharing are managed there.
- You can change plans anytime. Upgrades and downgrades take effect right away or at your next billing cycle.
- Premium channels are optional add-ons. You can add or remove them without canceling your base plan.
- Activating a device is simple. Just sign in with your Google account on the new device.
If you’ve ever logged into YouTube TV® and thought, “Where do I even change this?” it’s usually because the account tools aren’t front and center in the app. Whether you’re trying to update billing, switch plans, add premium channels, or activate a new device, everything lives in one place—you just have to know where to look.
Asurion Experts regularly help customers adjust streaming subscriptions and manage device access across multiple TVs and streaming sticks. We’ve walked through these settings countless times, so here’s exactly where to go and what to tap.
How to access YouTube TV account settings
To manage your account:
- Go to tv.youtube.com in a browser.

How to change your YouTube TV plan
To upgrade or downgrade your plan:
- Go to Settings.
- Select Membership.
- Choose Manage next to your current plan.
From there, you can:
- Upgrade to the 4K Plus add-on
- Cancel optional add-ons
- Pause or cancel your membership
Plan changes usually apply at your next billing cycle unless you’re adding an upgrade.
How to add premium channels
Want to add HBO®, Showtime®, or another premium channel?
- Go to Settings.
- Select Membership.
- Scroll to available add-ons.
- Select Add next to the channel you want.
Premium channels are billed separately but managed under the same Membership section. You can remove them anytime.
How to activate YouTube TV on a new device
If you’re setting up YouTube TV on a new TV or streaming device:
- Download the YouTube TV app.
- Open it.
- Select Sign in.
- Enter your Google account email and password.
In some cases, you’ll see a code on your TV screen. Go to youtube.com/activate on your phone or computer, enter the code, and confirm.
Once signed in, that device will stay connected unless you manually sign out.
How to manage family sharing
To manage who has access:
- Go to Settings.
- Select Family sharing.
- Choose Manage.
From there, you can:
- Add family members
- Remove family members
- Review who’s currently connected
All family members must live in the same household.
How to use YouTube TV settings for playback and preferences
Inside the app itself, you can adjust:
- Streaming quality
- Closed captions
- Autoplay settings
These options are usually found under your profile icon within the app.
For billing and membership changes, use a browser. For playback preferences, adjust them directly inside the app.
