Watching over your house using Blink™ Live View is comforting when you're away. You'll know when a package arrives or if someone you don't recognize comes to your door. But if Live View starts glitching, you won't be able to see real-time activity through the Blink app.

Asurion Experts keep your home security devices working smoothly. Whether you want help picking out security devices for your smart home or installing and setting up your first Blink camera, we have you covered. Here's what to do if Blink Live View isn't working.

Common causes of Blink Live View issues

Why does Blink Camera Live View stop working? It usually stems from one of these problems.

  • Weak Wi-Fi signal or network interference. The Blink camera can't stream video through Live View without a strong internet connection.
  • App settings and permissions issues. Certain permissions or settings in the Blink app may prevent Live View from properly displaying.
  • Firmware or software problems. Failing to update your Blink camera with the latest software could cause Live View to stop working.

Solutions to restore Blink Live View

Eager to get Blink Live View up and running again? Try these Blink Live View troubleshooting options.

Restart devices and check Wi-Fi

Unplug the Blink camera from its power adapter. Wait thirty seconds before plugging it back in again.

Also, confirm your home's Wi-Fi is working. Try using other devices connected to the Wi-Fi, such as a laptop or phone. If the connection is down, Live View won't display.

To resolve a Wi-Fi connection issue, try turning your router entirely off. Turn it back on and wait up to two minutes for it to fully power back on. If a connection isn't available, your area may have a system outage. You can contact your Wi-Fi network provider for more information.

Update firmware and app

Blink cameras receive automatic updates. Other electronic devices allow you to install firmware and security patches manually, but Blink doesn't provide that option.

However, an outdated Blink app could impact Live View streaming. Check if any updates are available through Google Play™ or Apple App Store. If an update is available, download and install it on your phone before retrying Live View.

Optimize router placement and signal strength

If your internet is working but Live View won't display, the signal may not be strong enough to facilitate video streaming. Follow these steps to check signal strength.

  1. Open the Blink app on your smartphone.
  2. Tap the More button located on your camera's thumbnail image.
  3. Tap Device Settings > General Settings.

Look underneath the Network section for Connection to Wi-Fi or Connection to Sync Module to view signal strength. If fewer than three bars are visible, the internet connection may not support Live View. Try moving the internet router or the Blink Sync Module closer to the camera.

Reset Blink camera

Blink cameras have a small reset button on the bottom or side panel. It's usually small, and you can press it using the end of a paper clip or pen. Once you've located the reset button on your device, press it for up to 30 seconds. When the camera's lights start flashing blue, the process is complete.

Resetting the Blink camera clears out any bugs interfering with device performance. It does not restore the device to its factory settings or remove it from your account.

Once the camera restarts, open the Blink app on your smartphone to check your Wi-Fi connection and confirm Live View works.

FAQ

Why does Blink Live View say “Camera Busy”?

Your camera may already be recording, syncing, or reconnecting in the background. Give it a minute, then try again. Tech likes a little breathing room sometimes.

Why does Live View keep buffering or freezing?

That spinning circle usually means your signal isn’t strong enough. Move the camera closer to your router or Sync Module, or reduce interference from thick walls and metal objects.

Can low batteries stop Live View from working?

Yes—and Blink will quietly disable Live View to conserve power. Fresh batteries can make a big difference.

How do I reset a Blink camera if Live View won’t load?

Power cycle it. Remove the batteries (or unplug it), wait about 10 seconds, then reconnect. It’s the tech equivalent of “have you tried turning it off and on again?”—and it works more often than you’d think.
