How to clean an Echo Show screen without damaging it

💡 Need to know

  • Unplug it first. It's safer, and smudges are easier to see on a dark screen.
  • Microfiber is your friend. A clean, soft cloth handles most fingerprints and dust.
  • Keep liquids off the screen. If you need moisture, lightly dampen the cloth instead.
  • Gentle wins. Your Echo Show™ shouldn't need heavy scrubbing to come clean.

An Echo Show™ sits right where life happens, so the screen eventually starts showing the evidence—fingerprints, dust, cooking splatter, and the occasional mystery smudge nobody remembers making.

Cleaning it doesn't take much, but this is one place where more scrubbing and more cleaner definitely aren't better. At Asurion, we help people care for the devices they love and rely on. Here are the Echo Show screen cleaning do's and don'ts we'd recommend and the simple steps to a tidy display.

Do:

  • Use a soft microfiber cloth for dust and fingerprints.
  • Check that the cloth itself is clean before you start—if it's picked up grit from a countertop or another device, a gentle cleaning can turn into an accidental scratch.
  • Lightly dampen the cloth for a stubborn smudge, then dry the screen right away.
  • Keep moisture away from the screen edges, speakers, microphones, buttons, and ports.

🛑 Don't:

  • Spray water or cleaner directly onto the Echo Show.
  • Soak the cloth or use a dripping wet wipe.
  • Reach for harsh household or glass cleaners.
  • Scrub with paper towels, abrasive cloths, or sponges.
  • Press hard on stubborn spots. A little patience is safer than a lot of pressure.

  5. Make sure everything is completely dry before plugging the Echo Show back in.

That's it. No special cleaning kit, elaborate routine, or aggressive scrubbing required. And now that you've cleaning the outside, if you'd like to clean up what shows up on the screen, we've got tips for that too: How to customize your Echo Show home screen.
