eero app not finding your network? Here's how to fix it

⚡ Fast fix

The eero® app is designed to make Wi-Fi setup feel almost automatic. So when it can't find your network—or the eero you're trying to add—it can bring the whole process to a stop.

Asurion Experts help people set up home networks every day. Here's where we'd start to get the app and your network talking again.

Why can't the eero app find your network?

Most of the time, it's one of a handful of things:

  • Bluetooth or app permissions are turned off.
  • Your phone doesn't have a mobile data connection.
  • The main eero or modem isn't fully online.
  • You're signed into the wrong eero or Amazon account.

One thing to figure out first: are you setting up a new network, or are you trying to reconnect to an existing one? The troubleshooting is slightly different depending on which problem you're trying to solve.

Turn on Bluetooth and app permissions

The eero app uses Bluetooth to discover nearby devices during setup, so it's one of the first things we'd check.

On iPhone:

  1. Turn on Bluetooth in Settings.
  2. Open Privacy & Security and confirm the eero app has the permissions it needs.
  3. Reopen the eero app and try setup again.

On Android:

  1. Turn on Bluetooth.
  2. Open Settings > Apps > eero.
  3. Allow the requested permissions, then try setup again.

If the app still can't find the device, force-close it and reopen it before trying again.

Use a phone with mobile data

During setup, the eero app may need an active cellular connection before your Wi-Fi network is online. If you're using a Wi-Fi-only tablet, setup can stall because the device has no other way to reach the internet.

If possible, switch to a smartphone with mobile data enabled and try again.

Start with only the main eero

When you're setting up a new network, less is more.

Connect only the main eero to the modem with Ethernet and leave any additional eeros unplugged until setup is complete. Once the main eero is online, you can add the others one at a time.

If you're adding another eero to an existing network, our guide to setting up an eero Wi-Fi extender walks through the process.

Restart the modem and eero

If the app used to find your network but suddenly doesn't, restart the network before changing anything else.

Unplug the modem and main eero for about 60 seconds. Plug the modem back in first, wait for it to reconnect, then power the eero back on and check the app again.

If your devices say they're connected to Wi-Fi but nothing will load, our guide to fixing Wi-Fi with no internet connection can help narrow that down.

Check the modem connection

If setup still isn't working, take a quick look at the hardware. Make sure:

  • The Ethernet cable is firmly connected.
  • The modem is powered on.
  • Internet service is active.
  • The cable isn't damaged.

If you have another Ethernet cable handy, it's worth swapping it in. A bad cable can look a lot like a failed setup.

Update the eero app

An outdated app can sometimes prevent your network from appearing correctly.

Check the App Store or Google Play Store for updates, then reopen the app. If it still can't find your network, reinstall the app and sign back in.

Make sure you're using the right account

If the app opens but doesn't show your network, double-check which account you're signed into.

Many eero networks are linked to:

  • An Amazon account.
  • An eero account.
  • A different email address.
  • Another household member's account.

Signing into the correct account is often all it takes to make the network reappear.

Save the reset for last

Restarting your eero is safe. Factory resetting it is different.

A reset can remove the eero from your network or erase settings, so we don't recommend pressing the reset button unless you've ruled out the basics first. If the app still can't find the device after checking power, permissions, your network, and your account, contact eero Support before resetting an existing network.

FAQ

Why is the eero app not finding my eero?

Bluetooth may be off, app permissions may be blocked, the eero may not be powered correctly, or multiple eeros may be confusing setup. Start with one powered eero.

Does eero setup need Bluetooth?

Yes, Bluetooth helps the app find nearby eero devices during setup. Keep the phone close and make sure Bluetooth is enabled.

Does eero setup need mobile data?

It may. Use a smartphone with cellular service instead of a Wi-Fi-only tablet, especially when creating a new network.

Why does the eero app show no network?

You may be signed in to the wrong account, the network may be offline, or the app may need an update or reinstall.

Should I reset eero if the app can’t find it?

Not right away. Restart first. A reset can erase settings or remove the eero from the network, which is a bigger step than most setup issues need.
