Launch the on-screen setup
The first few setup steps for a Samsung Smart TV are the same as for any other TV. Start by unboxing the TV and attaching it to the stand or a wall mount. Plug it in and turn it on. Don’t forget to make sure your remote has batteries, too.
Then, follow these steps specific to your Samsung Smart TV setup:
- Select a language for the TV.
- Choose either the Smartphone or Remote option to complete the setup.
- If you choose Smartphone, scan the QR code with your phone to use the SmartThings app.
- If you choose Remote, continue setup using your remote.

Connect to Wi-Fi and sign in to your Samsung account
Once you choose your preferred setup method, you’re ready to connect your Samsung TV to Wi-Fi.
- If connecting other devices (like a gaming console), plug them in now. Otherwise, select Next.
- Select your Wi-Fi network from the list. If you don’t see it, choose Add Network.
- Enter the Wi-Fi password and select Go.
- On the Terms & Conditions page, select I agree to all, then choose OK.
- Select Start Setup.
- Create or sign in to your Samsung account.
- If a software update is available, install it. Otherwise, select Next.
- Create a four-digit PIN.
- Choose your TV source (Cable, Satellite Box, Antenna, or No broadcast signal).
- Plug in the cable from your TV source, ideally using HDMI.
- Select Next.
Your TV should now load the Samsung Smart TV Home screen.
Configure channels and optimize picture settings
If you’re using an antenna:
- Press the Home button and go to Settings.
- Select All Settings > General & Privacy > Broadcasting.
- Choose Auto Program > Start.
- Select your signal type and allow the scan to complete.
On the Samsung Smart Hub, you’ll see your apps and streaming services. The first time you open an app like Netflix®, you’ll need to sign in.
To update your TV software:
- Go to Settings > Support > Software Update.
- Choose Update Now if available.
