Schedule dark mode automatically

Don’t want dark mode on all the time? You can schedule it to turn on in the evening or at a custom time of your choice.

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap Display & touch > Dark theme.
3. Tap Schedule.
4. Tap an option:
   • Turns on at custom time
   • Turns on from sunset to sunrise
   • Turns on at bedtime
5. If prompted, enter a custom time.

If you prefer a sunset-to-sunrise schedule, confirm location services are on for your device. Otherwise, dark mode adaptive theming based on the time of day won’t work. To check your location settings, take these steps:

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap Location.
3. Verify Use location is on.

Quickly turn on dark mode

Dark mode is available through the Quick Settings menu. It’s the fastest way to turn on the feature without going into your Pixel’s settings app.

1. Swipe down twice on your screen to view all Quick Settings.
2. Locate and tap Dark theme.
