Share your location using Google Maps
There's a fuss-free way to share your real-time location with Android users: Google Maps™. It's free and easy to set up. Here's how to share your location from iPhone to Android (or vice versa) using the app:
- Open Google Maps.
- Verify that you're logged into your Google Account.
- Add the recipient's email to your Google Contacts list if it's not already there.
- Tap your profile picture or initial.
- Tap Location sharing > New share.
- Tap the For One Hour dropdown menu. Tap + or - to adjust the duration.
- Tap Until you turn this off to share without time limits.
- Tap the profile of the person you want to share your location with. Tap Share.
If you want to share your live location permanently from iPhone to Android, choose Until you turn this off as your duration. Your family member or friend can view your location as long as you keep the setting enabled.
Location sharing won't work if you've blocked Google Maps from accessing your location. To verify it's enabled on your iPhone, take these steps:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps > Google Maps > Location.
- Tap Always.

What if the person you want to share your location with doesn't have a Google Account? Don't worry, there's a workaround. You can share your location using a Google Maps link. Take these steps:
- Open Google Maps.

Anyone you send the link to can view your live location for up to 24 hours. It won't work for longer durations.

Share your location using WhatsApp
WhatsApp® includes a location-sharing feature that works across device platforms. Here's how to share your location from Android to iPhone (and vice versa) using WhatsApp.
- Enable location permissions for WhatsApp on your iPhone or Android device.
- Open the chat you want to share your location through.
- Share your location.
- iPhone: Tap + > Location > Share live location. Select the location sharing time and tap Send.

- Open the WhatsApp Privacy Settings.
- iPhone: Tap Settings > Privacy > Live location.
- Android: Tap the three-dot menu on the chats tab. Tap Settings > Privacy > Live location.
