YouTube TV multiview: How it works and who can use it

💡 Need to know
- Multiview lets you watch up to 4 streams at once on a single screen.
- It’s mostly available for live sports. Not every channel supports it.
- Device support is limited. Most smart TVs and streaming devices work—but not all.
- You can’t fully customize it (yet). Channel combinations are pre-selected.
If you’ve ever tried to keep up with two big games at once, you know how fast channel-switching gets old. That’s where YouTube TV® multiview comes in. Instead of flipping back and forth, you can see multiple live streams on a single screen.
Asurion Experts regularly help customers get the most out of their streaming setups—from optimizing live sports features to troubleshooting device compatibility—so we’ve seen firsthand how multiview works (and where it doesn’t). Here’s what to expect and which devices actually support it.
What is YouTube TV multiview?
YouTube TV multiview allows you to watch up to four live streams simultaneously on a single screen. You’ll typically see:
- Four live games at once
- A main audio focus on one stream
- The ability to switch audio between streams
Right now, multiview is most commonly available during major live sports events, like NFL games or college football matchups.
Is multiview only for sports?
Mostly, yes.
Multiview is primarily designed around live sports. During big events, YouTube TV offers preset multiview combinations so you can follow multiple games at once. Occasionally, other live programming may appear in multiview, but sports are the main focus.

Which devices support YouTube TV multiview?
Multiview is supported on most modern smart TVs and popular streaming devices, including:
- Roku® devices
- Fire TV™
- Apple TV®
- Chromecast™ with Google TV™
- Many Samsung® and LG® smart TVs
It is not currently supported on:
- Mobile phones
- Tablets
- Web browsers
Multiview is optimized for large-screen viewing.
How to use YouTube TV multiview
When multiview is available:
- Open YouTube TV.
- Go to a supported live sports event.
- Select the multiview option when prompted.
You’ll see multiple games on one screen. To switch audio:
- Highlight the stream you want.
- Select it to make it the primary audio feed.
Currently, you cannot manually build your own multiview lineup. YouTube TV provides preset groupings.
Does multiview count toward stream limits?
No. Multiview counts as one stream, even though you’re watching multiple games. That means if you’re watching multiview on one TV, it only uses one of your simultaneous stream slots.
Can you customize multiview?
At this time, customization is limited. YouTube TV selects which games or channels appear together in multiview mode. You can choose from available preset options, but you can’t fully mix and match channels yourself.
YouTube TV continues expanding this feature, so options may grow over time.
Why isn’t multiview showing up?
If you don’t see the multiview option:
- The event may not support it
- You may be on an unsupported device
- The feature may not be available in your region
Make sure your YouTube TV app and device software are fully updated.
