The Wi-Fi is working, but the app that’s supposed to manage it won’t cooperate. That’s a very specific kind of annoying.

Asurion Experts help customers manage home Wi-Fi and connected tech every day. If the internet still works, we’d keep the fix focused on the eero® app, phone, and account before touching hardware that’s already doing its job.

Find out whether the app or the network is actually offline

Put the phone on the eero Wi-Fi network and load a couple of websites.

If they load normally but the app won’t connect, the eero network itself is probably fine. Move on to the phone and app checks below.

If nothing loads, the app may simply be reporting a real network outage. Our article on what to do when Wi-Fi is connected but there’s no internet is the better place to start before reinstalling anything.

Refresh the app and phone

eero’s current app troubleshooting starts with the simple stuff, and it’s worth doing in that order:

  1. Force-close the eero app and open it again.
  2. Sign out of the eero account, then sign back in.
  3. Turn Wi-Fi off and back on from the phone settings.
  4. Check the App Store, Google Play Store, or Amazon Appstore for an eero app update.
  5. Restart the phone.
  6. If the problem remains, uninstall and reinstall the app.

Reinstalling the app doesn’t erase the eero network itself. The network belongs to the account, so signing back into the same account should bring it back into view.

Make sure it’s the right account

This is especially worth checking after changing phones, sharing network management with someone else, or switching between an eero login and Amazon account sign-in.

If the app opens but the expected network is missing, confirm the phone number, email address, or Amazon account being used. A perfectly healthy network won’t appear under an unrelated account.

Our guide to fixing the eero app when it can’t find your network goes deeper into account, Bluetooth, and setup problems when the app can’t see an existing network or a new eero.

Managing more than one network? Check which one is open

Someone who manages eero at more than one location can be signed in correctly and still be looking at the wrong network. In the eero app, go to Settings, tap the more-options menu near the top, choose Switch network, and select the network you want to manage.

That’s a much quicker fix than restarting the router at home while the app is happily displaying a different eero network somewhere else.

If the app says offline but the internet is working

Give the app a moment to refresh, then force-close and reopen it. eero notes that app status and the physical LED can occasionally take a little time to catch up with each other.

A working network with solid white eero lights doesn’t need a factory reset just because the app briefly shows stale information. Check the app connection and account first.

Also make sure the phone itself has internet access. The eero app needs a data connection to communicate with the service, so a phone that has lost both Wi-Fi and cellular data can’t manage much of anything.

Save network resets for an actual network problem

If other devices are online and the eero lights look normal, resetting an eero is unlikely to fix a phone-app problem. It can create a much larger setup job instead.

Only move into router-level troubleshooting if the network itself is also going offline. Otherwise, keep the fix where the symptom is: the app, phone, sign-in, or selected network.

FAQ

Why won’t the eero app connect to my network?

If Wi-Fi still works, check the app, phone connection, account sign-in, and selected eero network before restarting the router.

Can I manage eero from a web browser?

Nope. eero says its network is managed through the mobile app rather than a standard desktop web interface.

Will reinstalling the eero app delete my network?

No. Sign back into the same account after reinstalling and the existing network should still be there.

Why did my eero network disappear after I got a new phone?

The new phone may be signed into a different eero or Amazon account. Install the app and use the same account that manages the network.

Should I reset eero if the app isn’t working?

Not if the network itself is still online. Refreshing the app, phone, and account is a much smaller—and more relevant—place to start.
