Call forwarding lets you automatically send incoming calls from your Verizon line to another number. You can choose to forward all calls or only when your line is busy or unanswered. It works on most Verizon Wireless plans and is easy to turn on or off.
How to set up call forwarding on Verizon
Forward all calls
- On your Verizon phone, dial *72, followed by the 10-digit number you want your calls forwarded to. (Example: *72-555-123-4567 ).
- Press Send.
- Wait for the confirmation tone or message.
From then on, all calls to your Verizon number will go to the number you entered.
Forward calls when busy or unanswered
- On your Verizon phone, dial *71, followed by the 10-digit number you want to forward to. (Example: *71-555-123-4567 ).
- Press Send.
Calls will be forwarded only if your line is busy, or you don’t answer.
How to turn off Verizon call forwarding
- Dial *73 on your Verizon phone.
- Press Send.
- Wait for the confirmation tone or message.
Your calls will now ring directly to your Verizon phone again.
Things to know about Verizon call forwarding
- Voicemail: Once call forwarding is turned on, calls are sent to the forwarded number voicemail—not your Verizon voicemail.
