Life at Asurion

Employee Profile: Susan Soffiantino

Wondering if you can progress your career at Asurion? Over the past 13 years, Susan Soffiantino has done just that. From frontline to team lead, she has weaved her Asurion career through various roles, levels, and departments.

Asurion Careers: Congratulations on 13 years! Take us back to the beginning and tell us about each stop along the way.

Susan Soffiantino: I first started at Asurion in 2004 as a frontline Supply Chain Operator in our Technology Logistics Center (TLC) in Smyrna, TN. This was my first job working outside of the food industry and it was exciting to learn something completely different. I had never had so much fun working and my leader, peers, and the overall employee engagement initiatives made me feel as though I had truly found something special.

My first lead role began in 2007, as a Post Production Lead. I managed processes and influenced change to impact team performance.

From there, I grew into my first people-leader role in 2009, as an Asurion Repair Center Supervisor, managing a team of more than 50 people. I always think of the time I spent in this role as my career “growth spurt”. I was challenged more than any other role, learned that I am not always right.

In 2012, after several years in the warehouse, I was ready to step into something new and took a big step out of my comfort zone into a Recruiter role. Transitioning out of operations and into the corporate environment was a big change, from developing my computer skills to communication style. Being able to help others in a way that impacts their career growth was an honorable task. The role was initially intended to be an interim role, but I did everything I could to make a permanent home for myself, and that is exactly what happened!

Since March 2017, I have been a Recruiting Solutions Lead, supporting our Internal Recruiting Solutions team, and focusing on streamlining processes that simplify workloads, while driving innovation for our future growth, as well as impacting and influencing change for our team members.

AC: Fill in the blank. Asurion is the best at ______________.

SS: I’ve been on many different teams and reported to many different leaders across my tenure. The one thing that always remains constant is our ability to drive change. Over the past 12+ years, I have witnessed tons of growth. That happens due to the stellar leaders and team members we have here at Asurion. We not only look for ways to improve, we encourage each other to participate in driving the results to make positive change happen for our future.

AC: What is something unique you have been able to participate in at Asurion?

SS: As a Supervisor, I partnered in leading a pilot team to implement Lean processes into our Repair Center Operations (RCO). It was the first time I was in a project that included team members from frontline to Director. The entire process took about 3 months before it was fully implemented across the RCO, but was a journey that captured my heart.

AC: It’s been 13 years. Why Asurion? What’s kept you?

SS: I live and breathe our Core Values, and I believe Asurion stands by them. We have a mission to enhance our customer’s lives through technology, but our Core Values are the driving force behind getting this done. Not only do we achieve those results, but we reward one another for getting there. That continuous praise, appreciation, and recognition make me feel I am doing what is right for the greater good.

AC: If you had to choose a new role with Asurion tomorrow, what would it be?

SS: Oh man. I have always been interested in the project management function. I take a very tactical approach towards solving problems and like to check things off my list, but I thoroughly enjoy the diverse skillsets you get to tap into when managing projects from start to finish.

AC: Top 5 things to do when you’re not working?

SS: Hiking, white-water rafting, canoeing, going on a road trip, and spending time with family.

Thank you, very much!
