How to use Call Screen on Google Pixel
You can block spam calls on Google Pixel automatically and manually. The automatic method filters calls without the need to push any buttons. It decides which calls to review based on your settings.
Manual call screening lets you decide when to screen a call. Screening only starts when you receive a call and tap a button.
How to use automatic call screening
When you enable automatic call screening, filtered calls are sent to Call Assist. You'll receive a real-time alert that the screening process is taking place.
You can view the conversation by tapping Screening unknown number or Screening suspicious call. If Call Assist decides the call is spam, it will hang up. But if the call seems legit, your phone will ring.
How to manually screen a call
If you don't want Call Assist to screen all unknown callers, disable the Automatic screening feature. You'll still have the option to screen unknown calls by tapping Screen call when someone contacts you.
When you tap the option, Call Assist asks for the caller's name and reason for contacting you. You can opt to answer the call, hang up, or select a suggested response for Call Assist to use.
How to review Call Screen transcripts
Your Pixel saves a transcript of screened calls directly to your device. To view transcripts:
- Open the Phone app. Tap Home.
- Tap the screened call.
- Tap Transcript. If you don't see that option, tap History > See transcript.
You can also enable saved audio recordings so you can play them back later. To set this feature up, take these steps:
- Open the Phone app. Tap the three-dot menu > Settings.
- Tap Spam and Call Screen. Enable See caller and spam ID.
- Tap Call Screen. Enable Call Screen audio.
To view recordings, open the Phone app.
- Tap Home.
- Select the screened call.
- Tap Transcript and audio. If you don't see that option, tap History > See transcript.
What to do if Call Screen isn't working
Can't find Call Screen on your Pixel phone? Take these steps:

- Update your phone: An outdated Pixel may not offer Call Screen. Download available updates to access all features for your device.
- Recheck your settings: Verify that you've enabled Call Screen in your Phone app and the settings are correct.
If the manual option to screen calls doesn't appear and your device supports it, follow these steps:
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap the three-dot menu > Settings > Spam and Call Screen.
- Follow the prompts to enable the feature.
If there are no Call Screen settings to select, you have an unsupported device.
