- Turn off your laptop, unplug the power cord, then remove its battery pack. Let it completely drain before reinserting your battery and turning your laptop back on.
- Remove your old battery, and get a laptop battery replacement. Then take the old battery to an authorized battery collection site or recycling center (link to Call2Recycle.org), which will safely dispose of it.
