How long have you been with Asurion and what brought you here?

I’ve been with Asurion for 3 years. I started as a contractor in UX (User Experience) doing work for a small team. Once I learned more about the organization, I was excited for the opportunity to come on full time.

What does your job entail?

I’m a lead in the Product Design organization and my focus is to help provide support for experts to serve, solve, and sell for customers. We always want our customers to be supported first, so if I help create tools that make it easier for the experts to sell our products, they can focus on providing the support that the customer needs.

What have been your biggest accomplishments on your team?

Establishing the design apprenticeship program has been one of my biggest wins. I’m able to take someone who wants to make a career change and help them pivot with financial support and resources. As a first-generation college student, it means a lot to bring design education to the company, and that can take the form of a one-off training or providing mentorship and guidance for interns in apprentices.

What’s the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

One thing that I feel has been an asset in my career has been the willingness to try things that make me uncomfortable. I definitely have moments of anxiousness about doing something unfamiliar, but I have to be willing to “learn while doing” and overcome those fears. This has definitely helped me progress in my career.

What’s a fun fact about you that people may not know?

I love to do hip-hop choreography and I’m always learning and watching choreography online. I could watch a dance video 100 times just so I can break down the moves in my head. I'm a new mom and I still make time to take dance classes because it’s really a lot of fun for me. It’s nice to have a hobby that’s completely different from my regular work responsibilities.

Time for a wild card. What’s your favorite cereal, travel destination, TV show, book, or what’s something you can’t live without and why?

One thing I’m a big fan of is having a physical agenda or planner. Most of my work is digital or on Zoom, so I like having something physical where I can jot down ideas and have that tactile response of doing a checkmark crossing something out. I’m crazy because I’ll bring it on dinner dates with my husband, I’ll bring it to work, I’ll bring it to run errands. It goes everywhere with me, and I cannot live without my planner
