First-party cookies: These are persistent cookies placed on a website by the site owner to collect data. First-party cookies store information like items you add to online shopping carts, usernames, passwords, and language preferences.

Third-party cookies: Also known as tracking cookies, this type of cookie is placed on a website by someone other than the website owner. When you visit a website, third-party cookies track information and send it to the third party who created the cookie, like an advertiser.

How to allow or block cookies

Chrome

1. Open Chrome™—at the top right, click the three dots, then Settings.
2. Select Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data.
3. Choose whether you want to allow or block cookies, which types you want to allow or block, or customize cookie settings for certain websites.

1. Open Chrome—at the top right, tap the three dots, then tap Settings.
2. Tap Site settings > Cookies.

Safari

1. Open Safari®, click Safari, and click Preferences.
2. Select Privacy, then select Block all cookies.

Open Settings, tap Safari, then tap the switch next to Block All Cookies.

How to clear cookies

Chrome

2. Select Privacy and security > Clear browsing data, select Cookies and other site data, and click Clear data.
